North East International Film Festival

The North East International Film Festival is a competitive independent international film festival whose inaugural 3 day event is to take place from 19th to 21st November 2021 in and around Newcastle Upon Tyne.

They offer the standard categories for submission as well as more diverse and inclusive categories such as F-Rated, LQBTQ+, VisABLE, Best North East, Best Low/No budget, Best Student and Most diverse work.

The festival will comprise of Official Selection screenings, Special showcase screenings with cast and crew Q&A’s, Industry Networking Events, Free and Educational Industry related workshops and a Closing Awards Ceremony hosted by special guests and including the presentation of custom made award trophies, 3 course artisan meal, welcome drinks and renowned local entertainment.

What Makes The North East International Film Festival Unique?

This is the only annual international film festival event in the area and the only one in the entire region and beyond to host an awards ceremony in honour and celebration of filmmakers accomplishments.

The NEIFF is the first EVER film festival to sign up to the BBC 50/50 Equality Project, making that organisational commitment to diversity. The NEIFF is also the first EVER film festival to be awarded the Raising Films Ribbon for their efforts in creating an inclusive space for not only their audience and filmmakers but also for their team and it is one of only 80 film festivals globally to adopt the F-Rating, representing females in film.

This is an IMDB Qualifying festival with the option of distribution on the Opprime TV platform.

Facilities

All of the chosen NEIFF venues are  completely accessible and Official Selection screenings are required to be subtitled. The North East International Film Festival is in collaboration with various local Charities, Community Organisations, Local Businesses, Universities, Colleges and Schools and they are keen to promote business and tourism in the region. The NEIFF will also host a variety of exciting and interesting one off events throughout the year in partnership with local organisations, which shall be appropriate for the entire family.

Location And Nearby

The North East International Film Festival will take place at various locations in the Ouseburn District of Newcastle and Newcastle City Centre. Satellite screening locations around the North East are to be confirmed. Children And Pets

The North East International Film Festival will offer up a dedicated children’s category in their second year annual event to enable family friendly screenings and also an array of one off child friendly events throughout the year.

Prices

The NEIFF pricing structure is variable depending on timing of submission and submission category. There are available categories that are fixed at a lower cost. Prices are dependent on the particular event although some are available at no charge!
