My visit to Geisha

Having seen the promise of this gorgeous new restaurant, I was really keen to find out for myself what it was all about.  Geisha is bright, colourful and has Zen-like energy, I was not disappointed.

Geisha is located in Newcastle’s trendy Jesmond. It is a Japanese garden-inspired restaurant and bar serving Asian pan food, with a great drinks menu.

The most exotic ambience with an urban feel

A friend and I had been looking forward to visiting for a while we booked as it looked right up our street. We walked in and commented straight away on the amazing decor, including the beautiful lit lanterns and pretty hanging cherry blossom hanging from the ceiling.

Geisha has an exotic ambience with an urban feel.  I felt we had escaped Newcastle for a few hours; they definitely have created a fantastic Japanese garden concept throughout. The outdoor area also accentuates the theme with pretty lights, greenery, and cool Japanese inspired hanging slogans. The outdoor area is covered and heated, so it’s perfect if the weather isn’t too great.

The staff were amiable and attentive. We asked for recommendations on the food and drinks because it was so difficult to choose.   The range on offer was great, and we needed help especially when ordering cocktails as there are so many to choose from.

What’s on the menu at Geisha?

There was plenty to choose from on the menu, from noodles and rice dishes to speciality burgers. We had already been for afternoon tea earlier (at a different establishment for my birthday!), so it was enough to share a few sides. The sides were really generous portions, and I would recommend any of the salt and chilli dishes. I will be going back again for sure as I would like to try a few things on the menu.

Whether you want a meal or like us, simply some sides to share with drinks, I would say it’s the perfect setting for any occasion. They also had vegan and vegetarian options.

You must try a cocktail, we asked the staff their recommendations, as we love a gin they suggested ‘Geisha in the Garden’.  The cocktails came beautifully presented, but even more importantly, they taste incredible. We also had a Flaming Pornstar Martini which tasted amazing!

If cocktails aren’t your thing, there is plenty of other drinks to choose from, such as Japanese whiskeys, spirits and premium beers.

Where can I find Geisha bar and restaurant?
